Marathon Relay Event Sells Out in Record Time |

The 2012 GO! St. Louis Marathon Relay, presented by Lockton Companies has officially sold out at 500 total teams. The relay team capacity was reached on February 3, which marks the earliest this race has sold out in the history of the event. The relay race is comprised of four team members who each run or walk approximately 6-7 miles to complete a full marathon. The race is popular with family, friends and co-workers. Registration for the 12th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, set for April 14 & 15 is currently open. The event is Missouri’s largest competitive fitness event, with more than 25,000 total participants. The popular half marathon presented by PNC Bank had 13,500 registrants last year, making it one of the largest 13.1 fields in the U.S. Among the many race features for participants is a great-looking Brooks technical shirt, a high quality finisher medal, age group prize money and a course that includes views of the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, Anheuser-Busch Brewery and Forest Park. GO! St. Louis Donates $10,000 to St. Louis Fire Department Lifesaving Foundation |

GO! St. Louis announced today a $10,000 donation to the St. Louis Fire Department Lifesaving Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the St. Louis Fire Department and the people whom it serves.The donation, which was presented to St. Louis Fire Department Chief Dennis Jenkerson and St. Louis Fire Department Lifesaving Foundation President Curtis Engler will help in the foundation’s efforts to secure new life saving equipment such as EKG monitors, automated external defibrillators, special mountain bikes to help first responders and two Vespa motor scooters equipped with emergence medical equipment. Holdmeyer and Lyons Capture Halloween 10K Titles, More than 5,000 Participate in Festive Race |

Congratulations to the more than 5,000 participants in today's 3rd Annual GO! St. Louis Halloween 10K & Fun Run. Brian Holdmeyer and Margaret Lyons captured the men's and women's 10K titles. The 10K, which is the largest in Missouri, officially had 3,645 finishers, including thousands dressed in their Halloween costumes. The popular Fun Run, which started at 9:45 am, included more than 700 people of all ages and fitness levels. Check out the link below for official results, including photos and video. The innovative GO! St. Louis Read, Right & Run Marathon® program, now in its 11th year is currently accepting local schools and individual students.The GO! St. Louis Read, Right & Run Marathon encourages students in kindergarten through eighth grade to Read 26 books, Right the community with 26 good deeds and Run 26.2 miles in six months. GO! Nuts Nutrition Promotion a Success |

On September 28, GO! St. Louis’ staff and volunteers distributed more than 4,500 free small bags of mixed nuts at area street corners and intersections throughout the St. Louis area. Commuters were handed a small bag of mixed nuts that contain almonds, walnuts, pecans and pistachios with a special sticker that encourages them to eat healthy. Read More

GO! For a Cause Charity Training Program Contributes More than $330,000 to Local Organizations |

The 2011 GO! For a Cause charity training program helped nine area charities raise $331,643.00 for their causes. The program debuted in 2010 and was expanded in 2011 to include additional charities and opportunities for official partners to increase fundraising and visibility for their cause. GO! For a Cause encourages non-profit organizations to recruit stakeholders to participate in the annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, while raising donations for their charity. GO! St. Louis partners with charities by providing them the tools to implement the program, while promoting their participation through social media and traditional marketing.

Mullanphy Elementary Enjoys Day of Fitness, Receives Medals |

More than 400 students from Mullanphy Elementary School recently completed the GO! St. Louis Read, Right & Run Marathon program, when they ran their final 1.2 miles on a specially designed course at the school. Mullanphy was one of more than 150 schools and 19,000 area students that participated in the popular youth program, now in its 11th year. Students from Mullanphy received a medal as they crossed the finish line and were given healthy snacks and water. Congrats to all of the schools that participated in the GO! St. Louis Read, Right Run Marathon (RRRM) during the 2010-11 school year. Express Scripts, a large supporter of area youth programs, served as the presenting sponsor for the program, with many of their employees volunteering their time at RRRM events.

Soulard Area's Pajama Party Wins 2011 Neighborhood Cheer Zone Award |

Four area neighborhoods; Central West End, Soulard, Skinker-DeBaliviere and Franz Park were part of the competition this year for the top Cheer Zone on the marathon course. In a post-race survey from marathon participants, Soulard was voted the winner as the most creative and inspiring area. The group from Soulard, which is well-known for its great restaurants and late night bars had a “pajama party” theme that featured coffee-drinking, sign waving residents, who appeared to just have rolled out of bed. Other neighborhoods taking part in the competition also were very creative and provided some memorable interaction with runners. Thanks to the horn blowers from Central West End, the orange crew from Franz Park and the Jimmy Buffet group from Skinker-DeBaliviere for participating.

GO! St. Louis Joins Camp Eggers in 10K & 5K Event |

GO! St. Louis was proud to present a 10K & 5K event for the men and women stationed at Camp Eggers in Afghanistan on April 15. The event was in conjuction with the 11th Annual Marathon & Famiy Fitness Weekend in St. Louis. More than 190 participants competed, while GO! St. Louis provided t-shirts, finisher medals and awards. Congratulations to Luigi Marano (Coalition - Italian) Time: 19:58 and Kristen Kosaber (Civilian) Time: 24:47 for winning the men's and women's division of the 5K and to Paul Gesl (Air Force) Time: 39:48 and Carrie Paben (Navy) Time: 58:00 for capturing the 10K titles. This marks the third time, since 2007 that GO! St. Louis has coordinated a race for the armed forces stationed abroad. |

Paul Howarth Captures 11th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon, Angie Turner Wins Women's Title |

ST. LOUIS (MO) – April 10, 2011 – Paul Howarth, from Charleston, IL won the GO! St. Louis Marathon in a time of 2:29:41. On a day when start temperatures were above 65 degrees, Howarth edged three-time event champion Karl Gilpin by a few seconds. Gilpin, from Russellville, MO finished with a time of 2:29:43. On the women’s side it was another first time GO! St. Louis champion – Angie Turner, from Hallsville, MO., who finished with a time of 2:59:43. In the Half Marathon race, Josphat Boit, from North Little Rock, AK finished first with a time of 1:06:47. He was followed by second place finisher Sammy Rotich, posting a 1:08:02 time. Rotich is from West DesMoines, IA. Finishing third in the half marathon was Richard Kandie, with a time of 1:08:22. In the women’s half marathon race, Ann Kingori was the first women to cross the line with a time of 1:20:18. Kingori edged Kimi Reed, who posted a 1:20:40 time. Third place was captured by Emily Reed, crossing the line in 1:22:34. On a day that temperatures, combined with high humidity climbed to near 90 degrees, more than 11,500 finished the half marathon and more than 1,900 finished the marathon. The event also included a marathon relay, with more than 500 team registering. In all more than 25,000 participants, competed in 10 different events, over the two-day weekend of fitness races.

St. Louis, a local non-profit organization that specializes in providing fitness events and programs for the St. Louis region on a year-round basis, announced today a special one-day healthy nutrition ”Gorilla Marketing” promotion. The GO! Bananas promotion, set for March 10 at 7am, will encourage people to make fruit part of their daily diet. GO! St. Louis’ staff and volunteers will be distributing more than 4,500 bananas at area street corners and intersections throughout the St. Louis area.
